Bauddha Grameen Multipurpose Cooperative Ltd (BGMC) is a primary cooperative established in May 25, 2000 under the Cooperative Act 1992 with the vision of contributing to poverty reduction of the people living in Mid-western Region through economic and social upliftment of the poor and deprived communities. The cooperative offers reliable and cost effective financial solution for the transformation of poor households’ existing subsistence-based agricultural farming towards market linked commercial production.

The major focuses of BGMC are to 

a) conduct capacity building on financial literacy, cooperative education, agriculture, livestock etc.,

b) provide microfinance, remittance, insurance and other financial services in income generation sector with special focus to indigenous groups, dalit, madhesi, janajati, muslim and poor people.,

c) build partnership with financial institutions, private sector, government agencies and development partners, and

d) maintain financial discipline, transparency, governance system and strictly abide with cooperative act, rules, regulations and seven international cooperative principles.

BGMC has been promoting microfinance, agriculture, MSME, youth self-employment, remittance, insurance and other financial programs to ~55,125 members (81% women) through its 22 branch offices and 216 staff strength. The financial and non-financial services have been extended to 15 muncipalities and 23 Rural Muncipalities of four districts (Surkhet, Dailekh, Jajarkot and Jumla) where 96% of the borrowers represent women, poor and disadvantaged groups.
